New York's most decorated avant-country-instrumental-Merle Haggard-cover band are thrilled to be back in Austin, presenting a new project performing the music of Texas' own George Jones.

Since their debut album in 2010, Pretend it's the End of the World, Bryan & the Haggards have drawn acclaim for their wild and ambitious take on the beloved Merle Haggard Songbook. They have released two albums for Hot Cup Records, as well as a third album, Merles Just Wanna Have Fun, for Northern Spy Records, in collaboration with legendary eccentric Dr. Eugene Chadbourne. Merging jazz and electronic music in shocking and progressive ways, Murray has also gained internet infamy with his alter-ego "Balto Exclamationpoint,".

"Satisfying as both a commentary on Mr. Haggard’s music and a dispatch from the current jazz frontier” - Nate Chinen, The New York Times

“Bryan and the Haggards expertly bridge the worlds of two genres rarely seen together” - Steve Greenlee, The Boston Globe

“A daring punk-jazz ensemble…what you’d imagine dancing to at David Lynch’s wedding reception” - Bill Milkowski, Jazz Times
