Trombonist, musician and educator Leo Gauna draws inspiration from a vast array of deep and powerful musical currents. A skilled trombonist and arranger, Gauna spent several years working with Latin funk groups Grupo Fantasma and Brownout. He has performed with Prince, Shelia E, and Maceo Parker. And he appears regularly as an in-demand brass player in jazz ensembles throughout the Live Music Capital of the World.

Leo Gauna conceived of The Hubtones as a special project to celebrate some of his favorite jazz artists, including Freddie Hubbard, Horace Silver, Wayne Shorter, and The Jazz Messengers. The vibe of the group is bluesy and soulful—the kind of jazz tunes that make you snap your fingers and move your hips.
