The Empire is a 6 piece Jazz/Funk ensemble from Austin, Texas. Led by trumpet player and vocalist Ormide Armstrong, the group has a wide-ranging repertoire which incorporates the styles of Nat King Cole, Harry Connick Jr, Frank Sinatra, and Roy Hargrove.
This performance will also feature Grammy Award winning vocalist, songwriter, and actress Hilá Plitmann. Hila is known worldwide for her unique expressive quality, as well as her effortless, glittering voice, and her ability to present challenging works of music with dexterity.
She has accumulated a vast catalog of recordings including Hans Zimmer’s Grammy Award nominated soundtrack to The Da Vinci Code, Eric Whitacre’s Good Night Moon with the LSO, Oscar winner John Corigliano’s song-cycle Mr. Tambourine Man with the Buffalo Symphony (Best Classical Vocal Performance Grammy), and Richard Danielpour’s Grammy Award winning recording The Passion of Yeshua, with Buffalo Symphony Orchestra.
