49th Monks Show ft. Dustlights and Pocket Sounds

  • 2300 Coronado Street Austin, TX, 78702 United States (map)

Dustlights & Pocket Sounds

November 3rd - Sets 7:30pm and 9pm (Purchase Tickets Here)

Monks returns to Radio Milk Recording Company to present two amazing acts on the outdoor stage:

Dustlights A freshly unearthed instrumental trio out of Brooklyn and Houston, Dustlights (Joe Wilson (saxophones / fx), David Christian (drums), Ran Livneh (bass / fx)  make ambient groove and mood-drenched soundscapes with sax, bass, drums and FX. Their songs combine epic explorations of post-rock, post-jazz, psychedelic, and ambient endeavors with the firm grounding of trip-hop beats and simple melodies. Listeners relate to the sound to early Tortoise, Dungen, Brian Eno, Stars of the Lid, Portishead, badbadnotgood...

Pocket Sounds (Austin) Incorporating traditional instruments with effects, harmonizers, and loops, the duo of Mike St.Clair (vocals/bass/trombone) &  Jeff Olson(drums/synthesizer) creates a bed of ambient textures and churning rhythms that propel classic song forms with a twist.

Vintage jazz vinyl spun by Violet Sound aka James Hush.
